Egypt to unveil plans for new administrative capital - FT.com:
"Egypt is set to unveil ambitious plans to build a new administrative capital on the outskirts of Cairo, to be funded by Gulf investors who are keen to back the government by spurring economic growth.
The proposed city of up to 7m residents would be built over 700 sq km – roughly the size of Singapore – effectively extending Cairo as far as the port city of Suez on the Red Sea.
If built, Egypt’s government departments would move to the new city to reduce chronic congestion in the overcrowded metropolis of 18m people."
